Research shows that “self-promoters” are six times more likely to fail. Although some of these self-promoters are considered high performers, PDI Ninth House Vice President and University of Minnesota Professor Louis Quast tells the Wall Street Journal they are at risk of derailment if they don’t recognize and address their faults.

In the article, “What’s in Your Blind Spot?” Quast discusses the PDI Ninth House and University of Minnesota study and its implications. The article also features the stories of Brent Sherwin, a Schwan’s Food Company manager and Mark Henning, global general manager of a Dow Microbial Control, both of whom risked derailment, but instead underwent a series of 360 reviews, leadership assessments, and coaching, and successfully overcame their challenges to get back on course.
